Eco-lodge in Nicaragua
This is an eco-lodge located in middle of a forest preserve and organic coffee farm in the mountains of Nicaragua. I would recomend it for any traveler who likes to get off the beaten path. The food was outstanding and mostly local cuisine. There is alot of wildlife including howler monkeys, sloths, frogs, frog bats, armadillos and tons of huge butterflies. There are tree waterfalls along FEV's many nature paths.
Do not plan on having a warm shower. The whole site is run on a few solar panels and a small hydroelectric plant. Oh, and the water is safe to drink, fresh mountain spring water.
The manager know English very well and was educated at Fresno State. But you will need to know Spanish to find yourself on the correct bus to Matagalpa, then San Ramon then Yucul.
